Defending Champion Miguel Angel Jiménez commits to 2026 Kaulig Companies Championship at Firestone Country Club
AKRON, Ohio - Tournament officials today announced that defending champion Miguel Angel Jiménez has committed to compete in the 2026 Kaulig Companies Championship, set for July 9-12 at the South Course of Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.
Jiménez claimed the 2025 Kaulig Companies Championship title in dramatic fashion, rallying from two strokes down with two holes to play to force a playoff against 2024 Charles Schwab Cup champion Steven Alker, before sinking a 20-foot birdie putt on the second extra hole to seal the victory. It was his fourth PGA TOUR Champions win of a dominant 2025 season and his third senior major championship, cementing his status as one of the most formidable forces in senior golf.
The 62-year-old Málaga, Spain native has built a remarkable career across four decades in professional golf. With 17 PGA TOUR Champions victories and 43 worldwide wins — including 21 on the European Tour — Jiménez has compiled one of the most accomplished records in professional golf on both sides of the Atlantic. His three senior major championships include the Regions Tradition and The Senior Open Championship at the Old Course at St Andrews, both won in 2018, along with his 2025 title at Firestone. In 2026, Jiménez has made three top-10 finishes heading into his title defense.
The return of the defending champion adds a compelling storyline to what promises to be a special edition of the Kaulig Companies Championship at Firestone Country Club. Tournament officials will issue additional 2026 field updates in the coming weeks. Tickets and additional tournament information are available at kauligchampionship.com.
